The Ivy Hotel- Adults Only
We selected The Ivy for its pool deck: fully rebuilt in a recent renovation and...
Coral Princess Hotel occupies a pale-yellow, three-storey colonial house on Avenida Magdalena, a few streets back from Condado Beach, and it wears its owner's taste openly: original artwork, marble floors and contemporary black-wood furniture fill the corridors and rooms rather than sitting in a single curated lobby display. A circular indoor-outdoor hallway rings a leafy courtyard of palms and orchids at the centre of the building, and the whole place reads closer to a well-kept private house than a conventional hotel — a quality guests consistently describe as feeling like a bed-and-breakfast rather than a boutique chain.
We picked this address because it delivers genuine character on a human scale: twenty-five rooms, an elevator, a rooftop hot tub, and enough art on the walls to make each corridor worth a second look. The fiche holds up well — rates, room counts and amenities are all properly filled in — and 160 reviews at 8.5/10 is a credible base for a hotel this size, not inflated by a handful of early reviews. It is a counterpoint to the chain hotels along Ashford Avenue: smaller, personal, and built around the owner's own collection rather than a brand standard.
Condado Beach and its string of restaurants and bars are about a five-minute walk away, and Avenida Magdalena itself is a busy residential-commercial street rather than a quiet cul-de-sac, so some street noise should be expected. Parking is limited, which matters for guests arriving by car, and the airport is roughly fifteen minutes away by taxi — close enough that the location never feels remote despite its quieter, more residential feel than the beachfront towers nearby.

Standard, Executive and Deluxe rooms sit across the first two floors, with Standard rooms running smaller and best suited to one guest or a couple who travels light. Every room carries a flat-screen TV, a jetted tub and a mini-fridge stocked with wine, along with pillow-top mattresses and tropical-print comforters that keep the design consistent floor to floor. Three Penthouse Rooms on top are the real draw for a longer stay: larger, quieter, and with their own access to the rooftop lounge after the hotel's general cut-off in the early evening.
The ground-floor pool is modest, with a handful of lounge chairs rather than a sprawling deck, which fits the hotel's scale rather than counting against it. The rooftop deck, with its hot tub and additional loungers, is the better perch for an evening — open to every guest until about 7 p.m., after which it becomes a Penthouse privilege. Between the two sits the courtyard, the quietest spot in the building and the one most guests mention first.
Check-in starts at 2 p.m., check-out is at 11 a.m., and children are accepted, though the hotel's own character — small rooms, an adults-leaning rooftop cut-off, a quiet residential courtyard — tends to draw mostly couples. Breakfast is free but basic, so guests planning a fuller morning meal should budget for one of the nearby cafés on Avenida Magdalena.
